Day 19. Honk!

This is yet again... a day late.

I got up early and went for a hike again. Then I came home and am dusting and scrubbing my room. Soo much dust and cleaning. Haha. Yeah, I know. It takes me forever to clean my room to perfection. I can do it so its OK.. but to have it perfect...That takes time. Well, afterwards I had to leave in the early afternoon for the Honk musical. We had our first performance last night. It was fun actually. The kids are really cute. Well, the musical is actually death and I want to stab my ears out because it is soooo cheesy. But hey, the kids are sooo cute so it all makes sense. Haha. I went to the art building afterwards and got home and ate a small snack and passed out. Hehe, Looking forward to next week where I will have WAY more free time.. but unfortunately Joe will be back so I will not have the solitude that I have come to enjoy and thrive off of.

Having Joe gone seems to give me a freedom I didn't realize I had. Haha, I guess Joe is more demanding and gives me stress then I care to think about. But I am sure will have a lot of interesting stories to tell of his trip, he always does. So I will definitely look forward to it. Hehe.

I didn't know!

People:
This is a GREAT musical. Actually one of the better ones I have ever been to. Luckily I was offered to play in so please come support. >_<

Synopsis:
PLOT SYNOPSIS
The musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is based on a popular 1998 film by the same title. It's about two fraudsters, Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson, living on the French Riviera. Lawrence is a cultivated and suave gentleman who cons rich ladies out of their money. Freddy on the other hand is a small time American thief who cons women into giving him money by telling made up stories about his sick grandmother. One day they meet on the train and try to setup some work together, but soon find out that the small French town they live in isn't big enough to support two scammers. So they setup a challenge, they agree that the first person to successfully steal $50,000 from a young heiress, Christine Colgate will get to stay in town, while the loser gets to leave. The battle between them then starts, with many twists and laughs along the way.

This is seriously going to be an amazing concert. Our conductor lost his wife, the love of his life, to cancer months ago. His grieving has overflowed into the music and we are playing some very VERY emotional and expressive pieces. Tonight he talked about his wife and the emotion that shone in his eyes and the smile on his face as he talked about her. I felt like she hadn't passed away at all. I got very very teary eyed thinking about this man in front of me who just exposed it all and is exposing everything to the world with this concert. It truly is one of the saddest and beautiful sights/sounds I have ever heard. Sigh. Anyway, if anyone can make it I know they would be changed by what they experience.

Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.

Manic emotions have returned. It seems so simple for them to bring forth the worst in me. I need an escape from myself. From my being.

Undergrad senior recital
Hello,
I just joined this community not long ago and I like the advice being given to the difference posts.
I am a senior in college and will be doing my undergrad senior recital for a BM in Cello Performance.
I need to complete and hour of music.
Is what I am planning to do good enough? Or would be looked upon favorably when applying for grad school?
I am currently practicing/planning to perform:
Le Grand Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Paganini, Variations on One String.
Concerto in C, III Mvt by Haydn
A Bach Suite, one of the later ones.
Dance of the Elves, Popper
Cello Concerto no. 1, Cadenza and last Mvt, Shostakovich.
Contemporary Piece by Faculty, Duo Cello and Koto.

Does this seem like a solid recital program. I need to add a sonata in there and was thinking of Rachmaninoff Sonata Ist Mvt.
When doing senior recital do you perform what you plan on auditioning with for Grad school?!
Please. Any and all feedback would be great! Thank you!!

A beginner must destroy the ego to constantly expose truth.
truth reveals the student's limitation, a point of direction and problem solving.
destroying the ego does not include abandoning intellect and rationality.
the study and practice of scales and keys or ragas or modes etc. are like chants or mantras
the psychological projections of universes, each with its own characteristics to be explored with intent.

I have been grinding my teeth this whole week! Been feeling sooo tense! Ive read that its called Bruxism. No matter how hard I try to stop myself from doing it I keep finding it tight. If I don't stop I am worried it might later lead to some kind of jaw disorder. Also I saw this suggested on someones LJ and I might try to find and read it. Good night.

Also, ”Year in Review” meme I found from a few years ago… thought I’d do it again!

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2008. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your Year In Review.

January: Well, its that time again, school is back with us again.

February: No February entry. :( Me Either)

March: Midterms are here in full swing. yay. XP

April: Dreamt that there was an virus/outbreak that turned people into monsters

May: None~

June: From people, places or things, we chose who we are and will be

July: Why is it so hard to find chivalric and noble deeds among people today.

August: Man, it bothers me. ALOT.

September: Man, i hate when I do things without even realizing it!

October: Just had such a miserable day with the sectionals and was having such a hard time with the students.

November: Got up early today and practiced for a few hours and then taught a lesson

December: This is the day I lost Paige.
